GPA Calculator
Enter grade points and credit hours to see your weighted GPA.
Work out your grade point average in seconds. Enter the grade points (on the 0 to 4.0 scale) and credit hours for each course, and this calculator returns the credit weighted GPA along with your total credits. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing you type is sent anywhere.
How to use
- Enter the grade points for your first course on the 0 to 4.0 scale (for example, 3.7 for an A minus).
- Enter the credit hours for that course (for example, 3).
- Select Add course and repeat for every class you want to include.
- Read your weighted GPA, total credits, and the number of courses counted in the results panel.
- Use Reset to clear all rows and start a new calculation.
Examples
- Three courses: 4.0 (3 credits), 3.0 (4 credits), and 3.7 (3 credits) give a weighted GPA of 3.51 across 10 credits.
- A single 4.0 course worth 3 credits gives a GPA of 4.00.
- 4.0 (4 credits) and 1.0 (1 credit) give 3.40, since the larger course carries more weight.
FAQs
- How is weighted GPA calculated?
- Multiply each course grade points by its credit hours, add those products together, then divide by the total credit hours. A course worth more credits has a larger effect on the result.
- What grade points do letter grades map to?
- On the common 4.0 scale, A is 4.0, A minus is 3.7, B plus is 3.3, B is 3.0, B minus is 2.7, C plus is 2.3, C is 2.0, D is 1.0, and F is 0.0. Check your school for its exact mapping.
- What happens if my total credit hours are zero?
- GPA cannot be divided by zero credits, so the calculator stops and asks you to enter at least one course with credit hours greater than zero. It never shows an invalid number.
- Can I leave some rows blank?
- Yes. Rows where both fields are empty are skipped. If you fill only one field in a row, the calculator asks you to complete that row so the math stays correct.
- Does this support a 5.0 weighted scale for honors classes?
- No. This tool uses the standard 0 to 4.0 scale and rejects grade points above 4. For honors or AP weighting, convert those grades to the 4.0 scale first.
- Is my data saved or sent anywhere?
- No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded or stored, so you can use it privately.
