Temperature Converter

Enter a value to convert between Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin.

Convert any temperature between Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin in one place. Type a value, pick the scales, and see the result update live. Because these scales each have their own zero point, the tool uses proper offset formulas rather than a single multiplier, so negative values and very cold readings convert correctly.

How to use

  1. Type the temperature you want to convert into the Value field. Negative numbers are fine.
  2. Choose the scale you are converting from in the From selector.
  3. Choose the scale you want in the To selector.
  4. Read the converted result instantly, then use Copy result to grab it.
  5. Use Swap to reverse the two scales, or Reset to start over.

Examples

  • 100 Celsius converts to 212 Fahrenheit (water boiling point).
  • 98.6 Fahrenheit converts to 37 Celsius (average body temperature).
  • 0 Kelvin converts to -459.67 Fahrenheit (absolute zero).

FAQs

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply the Celsius value by 9, divide by 5, then add 32. For example, 20 Celsius is (20 x 9 / 5) + 32, which equals 68 Fahrenheit. This tool does it for you instantly.
How do I convert Celsius to Kelvin?
Add 273.15 to the Celsius value. So 0 Celsius is 273.15 Kelvin and 25 Celsius is 298.15 Kelvin. Kelvin uses the same step size as Celsius but starts at absolute zero.
Why can a Kelvin result be different from Celsius by exactly 273.15?
Kelvin and Celsius share the same degree size, so they differ only by a fixed offset of 273.15. Fahrenheit, by contrast, uses a different degree size, which is why its conversions also include a multiplier.
Can I enter negative temperatures?
Yes. The tool accepts negative values for Celsius and Fahrenheit. Note that temperatures below absolute zero (about -273.15 Celsius or 0 Kelvin) are not physically possible, but the tool will still compute the math you ask for.
What temperature reads the same in Celsius and Fahrenheit?
Minus 40 is the single point where the two scales meet, so -40 Celsius equals -40 Fahrenheit. You can verify this by converting either way in the tool.
Does this work without an internet connection?
Yes. All conversion happens in your browser with no data sent anywhere, so once the page has loaded it keeps working offline.
