Large files or many pages may take longer and use more browser memory. Results stay private.
Add clean page numbers to a PDF without uploading it anywhere. Pick a number style and a starting value, then the tool draws the number at the bottom center of every page using a standard font. Everything runs in your browser, so your document stays on your device.
How to use
- Drop a PDF onto the box, or click to browse and select one.
- Choose a number style: just the number, Page 1, or 1 of N.
- Set the start number if you want the count to begin somewhere other than 1.
- Click Add page numbers and wait for the result.
- Click Download to save the numbered PDF to your device.
Examples
- A 12 page report numbered with the plain style shows 1 through 12 centered at the bottom of each page.
- A document set to the 1 of N style and 12 pages shows labels like 1 of 12, 2 of 12, up to 12 of 12.
- A chapter that should continue from a previous file: set Start at to 25 so the first page reads 25.
FAQs
- Does my PDF get uploaded to a server?
- No. The numbering runs entirely in your browser using a client-side library. The file never leaves your device.
- Where are the page numbers placed?
- Each number is drawn at the bottom center of every page in a standard Helvetica font, so it sits cleanly under your content.
- Can I start numbering from a value other than 1?
- Yes. Set the Start at field to any whole number and the first page will use that value, with each following page counting up by one.
- Does adding numbers change the page count or content?
- No. The tool only draws text onto existing pages. The page count stays the same and your original content is preserved.
- Why does the tool reject my file?
- It may not be a valid PDF, or it could be password protected. Remove any protection in a PDF viewer, then try again.
- Is there a file size limit?
- There is no fixed limit, but very large files use more browser memory and take longer, since all the work happens on your device.
