FAQs

How is the amount saved calculated?
Amount saved equals the original price multiplied by the discount percent, divided by 100. The final price is the original price minus that amount. For example, 25 percent off 200 saves 50, leaving 150.
How do I find the discount percent from two prices?
Switch to the by final price mode and enter both prices. The percent equals the amount saved (original minus final) divided by the original price, times 100. From 200 down to 150 that is 25 percent.
Which currency does it use?
None in particular. The calculator works on the numbers you type, so the results apply to any currency. No currency symbol is assumed.
Can the discount be more than 100 percent?
No. A discount over 100 percent would make the final price negative, so the tool asks you to enter a value between 0 and 100.
Why will it not accept a final price above the original price?
That would be a price increase rather than a discount, so the percent saved would be negative. Enter a final price that is the same as or below the original price.
